Spring — Still not an NCAA trademark

One of my most-read posts — from almost 9 years ago — centered on the NCAA’s trademarks.

Since then, they’ve somehow managed to trademark “Dribble.” Seriously.

As you’re probably aware, the NCAA is pretty protective of their trademarks. This is the reason you hear funny local radio and TV spots that tiptoe around them.

Lest you get too carried away thinking that you’ve outfoxed the NCAA by labeling “March Madness” as “March Mayhem” – check their list of trademarks first: http://www.ncaa.org/championships/marketing/ncaa-trademarks

March Mayhem is also a trademark. So too is “The Greatest Show on Dirt.” (I’m not sure what sport it’s in reference to, but it was fun to type.)

Enjoy the season and watch what you write!
